The excitement is mounting around here...I was scrolling through my list of blogs I follow yesterday and came across a headline that of course caught my attention...You Too On The Crew? from Dewey's Treehouse. This is also a new blog I haven't been following long, so it peeks my interest.
The reason it has peaked my interest is because I have dreamed of reviewing homeschooling products for like ever now. We have been homeschooling for four years and I have always thought how awesome it would be to try out products and then tell others my opinion. The best part of this whole deal would be to get products for free because they want an honest opinion. I can do that!
So I followed all the click here's and registered to be a product tester in the preliminary round. That means they review all of your information and then decide whether you meet the eligibility requirements of what they are looking for.
It didn't take long because after I got my husband off to work this a.m., guess what? There was an e-mail in my inbox. The e-mail contained two products that they would like me to review. I was so happy that I nearly fell out of my chair and that is hard for me to do so early in the a.m. So this is only the second round. I will have another round after I review before they make any final decisions. I am hoping for the best because this would be so sweeeet!
I also wanted to do the reviewing for the older group of children. I wanted to see products for my oldest child and that falls into the middle school grades and up. I haven't seen a whole lot of reviews for those types of products out in the internet world and would really like to try those out.
So wish me lots of luck and pray for me. I hope that it works out for this family.
Oh by the way I will be reviewing two homeschooling products very soon! So be watching for those.
Also if you would like to register yourself to be in the running for The Old School House then please click on the link.
Have a great day!

Mindful Menu with Chivetalker
All right, I love the Chivetalker because she has some awesome yummy menu plans and so do those who link up with her. She is a healthful gal who plans some great healthy menus for her family. So I am going to link up with her and share my menu for this week.
Monday - Sauteed Shrimp in olive oil with garlic, thin spaghetti noodles with olive oil and Italian seasoning, yellow & Zucchini squash that was canned from our garden this past year.
Tuesday - Chili with crackers and some yummy cheese.
Wednesday - Pizza, 1 cheese and 1 supreme, with homemade crust. (if you would like the crust recipe please leave me a comment and I will try to get a timely post for that recipe).
Thursday - Omelets, with ham, cheese, onions, and some opted for spinach as well. We have our own chickens and use farm fresh eggs.
Friday - Pulled pork with fried okra and mashed potatoes. The okra was fried in canola oil and was hand picked from our garden this past year.
Saturday - Meatloaf, Mashed potatoes, brown gravy, and green beans. The green beans also came from our garden this past year.
Sunday - Bratwurst with sauerkraut and mac n cheese. We have German roots so as usual this is a big hit around our house!
Our breakfast's are usually oatmeal, cream of wheat, eggs, cereal, toast, bagels, french toast, pancakes, etc. Depending upon what we have on hand or if my Amish Friendship Bread starter is ready. So whatever the time of year or our mood is what we make for breakfast.
Lunch is usually leftovers, baked potatoes, grilled cheese, soup, ramen noodles ( I know, we don't eat very often), lunch meat sandwiches, salad, etc. This is also made up of what we have on hand as well so it is as varied as our ingredients.
I hope to learn some new recipes over the next year and start incorporating them into our menu plans so we will see how that goes.
I encourage you all to participate in mindful Menus and link up with the Chivetalker. Not only will you find her but you will find others who menu plan as well. It is always a great source of ideas when you get stuck.
I plan my menus around our local supermarket fliers so each week those fliers come out on Wednesday. I plan on Wednesday and then do my shopping on Thursday. If I have enough on hand I will wait until Monday or Tuesday before I shop those sales and then prepare for Wednesday. It is a weird system but it works for me. I also do not have to fight the crowds while shopping because I shop on odd days.
So hopefully you will link up and share your menu plans with everyone. Until Next time...

Book Review: Free Book by Brian Tome
I finished reading my first book for Book Sneeze and I really have to say I love the fact that I get a free book in exchange for my thoughts about the book. That rocks. So click the highlighted text or scroll down my page a bit and look for the button if you would also like to join book sneeze.
So here is my review...
So here is my review...
Are you experiencing freedom? Are you living up to the full potential in which God has planned for you? Better yet, are living what you think is a balanced life? Do you restrict yourself with rules and regulations because that is the way you think it should be?
Brian Tome asks all these questions and more in his book titled Free Book. No the book isn’t free for the taking but rather talks about the freedom that God wants you to have in your life.
I was a bit put off at first by the first chapter because I live in a world where I try to balance everything but my balance is always unbalanced. There are several out there who know exactly what I am talking about. So as I kept reading through this book it started to hit home. I am always playing it safe but at what cost?
Tome has a passion for God and wants to share his freedoms with you so that we can all experience and live for God as God intended. He outlines a basic plan to start getting rid of the strongholds that you may have in your life. Some of us don’t even know we have strongholds until it is too late.
I enjoyed this book and have been able to take inventory into my own life so that I can take steps to experience the freedom of God. I hope you can also gain something from this book and share it with others.
So if you are out and about in the book store and happen upon this book I would recommend it. Especially if you are in a rut in your life or are trying to balance everything just so so.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

What's Happening Around Here?
So the week has slipped right on by....and what did we get accomplished? UHhmmmm.....Not everything I wanted to get done.
This seems to be the general feeling everywhere for this past week. So I guess I am not feeling so bad.
We didn't have fun Friday again this week...instead the kids had fun Tuesday. they opted for a half-day of school so that they could go and play outside in the snow. This was all right with me because if you are not a regular around here...our area is not known for it's snow filled winters. I agreed because what kid wants to be stuck inside when they have so much snow outside and know that it could be gone in a matter of hours. So that threw a wrench into everything for the rest of the week. We accomplished the bare minimums so I can be happy about that but it just wasn't what I had in mind.
There I go with that I thing...I should say what the Lord had planned for me doesn't match my own ideas. So I will leave it at that.
My plans for this weekend are to get at least almost finished with my oldest son's 8th grade physical science outline. (this will be his course next year) This is a rough draft and so I know that I will add or change it as I see fit over the next 3 months as I find more stuff etc. If you homeschool you know exactly what I am talking about...for the rest of you, it is simply a part of homeschooling life that can not be explained!
So we will see what I get accomplished.
It snowed yesterday and was beautiful but didn't hang around long. I think it lasted about an hour from start to finish, that includes melting time. :( Oh Well. I hear there may be another round of that white stuff in our future. Who knows but it sure is fun to play in.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Thankful Thursdays with The Nuthouse
Hello to everyone...
It is again Thursday and that means it is time to count our many blessings with the Nuthouse.
So after you are done reading this go check out The Nuthouse and see what kind of nutty things have been going on around there lately.
Without further ado....
I AM THANKFUL FOR....
1. These little bullet points...I really like them today.
2. Rainy weather - we get so much done on rainy, dreary days.
3. Chickens - They provide me with a wonderful breakfast
4. Speaking of Breakfast...My oldest made me fried eggs this AM (canola oil) and my daughter made me toast. The middle one decided to go upstairs and get some school work done. He likes cereal.
5. The hubs - even though he smeared chocolate on the couch sometime after midnight. He works a swing shift so his sleep is always irregular...this happened to be one of those nights...he likes to eat in the middle of the night.
6. Family - I love them though it all!
So what are you Thankful for today? Link up with The Nuthouse and share with everyone else. We would love to read your thankful thoughts on Thursday.
Have a super day!

A Busy Weekend
Hello everyone....
We had a very busy weekend and we never left home. It is amazing all the adventures you can embark upon just around the house.
We got some snow just in time for the weekend and enjoyed sledding for several days. We are actually going back out this morning after breakfast to enjoy the sledding and snow. This is a rare treat for us here in the south and I want my children to enjoy it. I want them to have fond memories of these special times. I also want to have my own fond memories of this time as well. So it is times like these that the children really appreciate being homeschooled. We can push the studies back for an hour while we enjoy the last bit of snow.
We also made Valentine's Day cards and they are not done yet. This is day number three and I am afraid the kitchen table will need to get cleaned up by this evening. I will hear many groans I am sure.
We enjoyed the wonderful beauty that God provided for us with this snow. We didn't make it out to church but had our own Bible study round the kitchen table on Sunday morning. It reminded me of what it was like long ago when families stayed home from church because there were few and far between. They had their own services each Sunday and sometime even the neighbors joined in. Oh I think I was born in the wrong time but then I have to remember that God has a plan for me in this time.
The children played several different card games and we watched a movie on Saturday evening. So , as the weekend wound down we were not ready for Monday morning.
What did you do over the weekend? What will you do this weekend? Leave me some comment love and tell me all about it.
For the rest of you...Enjoy these pictures from around our home.
